PAHOA, Hawaii – evacuation needs
House and Senate leaders went into the disaster area in and around Leilani Estates Thursday.
Legislators in Leilani Estates assessed how lava is impacting the community. They’re aware of some residents’ needs for alternative roads. They’re also looking into housing for the many who’ve been displaced.
“There are no rentals available in Hilo or Puna that could handle the thousands of people who are going to be evacuated here eventually,” Rep. Joy San Buenaventura said.
